Northern Folk Style Nesting Doll

Made at the Golden Cockerel workshop in the style of the Northern Dvina folk art, this brightly colored doll reminds one of the age-old lubok patterns of pre-literacy Russia.

This style of artwork is definitive of a region along the Northern Dvina River. There, the artisans decorate all sorts of household vessels, plates, etc., with this fanciful floral pattern dominated by rich teals, oranges, reds, and yellows, always on a white background.
